Renowned Ukrainian athlete, world silver medalist Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk has shared joyful news — she is expecting a baby.

The long jumper posted a touching video on her social media, where she and her husband, well-known swimmer Mykhailo Romanchuk, celebrate their happiness. The video shows Maryna’s growing baby bump.

“1+1=3.
So many tears, doctors, and efforts, but we believed and dreamed.
When it seemed like our whole world had collapsed and nothing beautiful was left in our lives, just days later we learned about you.
This journey was hard, but we can’t wait to meet our little angel,”
the athlete wrote.

Bekh-Romanchuk also revealed that she learned about her pregnancy at the same time as her suspension from competition.

“In the darkest times, in moments of despair and pain, we felt incredible happiness. Many of you wrote: ‘When one door closes, another opens.’ I cried… cried because it was true.
I paid a big price for our treatment, but I will never, ever regret it. The universe saw how much we dreamed and waited,”
she added in her Instagram stories.

Fans and fellow athletes have flooded Maryna with congratulations, wishing her good health and a joyful journey into motherhood.

For context, Maryna and Mykhailo first met at the European Youth Olympic Festival. Their relationship officially began at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where they reunited, sparking their romantic story. The couple has been married since 2018 and have both competed at three Olympic Games — in Rio, Tokyo, and Paris. Mykhailo Romanchuk is also an Olympic medalist, with silver and bronze from the Tokyo 2021 Games.
