From March 27–29, the city of Cinisello Balsamo hosted the GOMU 48HR World Championship 2026, bringing together the world’s best ultrarunners for one of the most demanding events in athletics.
Ukraine’s Team Performance
Ukraine was represented in the men’s race by five athletes: Yevhen Nesterets, Andrii Kozyr, Serhii Bilyi, Stanislav Nikitin, and team leader Andrii Tkachuk.
Tkachuk — the reigning world champion in the 24-hour run and Ukraine’s national record holder across ultra distances (12 hours: 160.5 km; 24 hours: 295.363 km; 48 hours: 435.446 km) — once again proved his class on the global stage.
The Ukrainian finished 5th overall, covering 385 km in 48 hours, and also claimed victory in the M40–44 age category.

Winners and Records
Poland’s Bartosz Fudali claimed victory in the men’s race with an outstanding 447.581 km.
In the women’s event, another Polish athlete, Patrycja Bereznowska, triumphed with 413.396 km.
Notably, the 51-year-old Bereznowska set a world record (436 km) at the previous edition of the championships.
The current men’s world record belongs to Belgium’s Matthieu Bonne, who covered a remarkable 485 km in 48 hours last year, breaking a mark that had stood since 1996.
